Pluses of Remote Employees

  • Have a larger pool of talent in recruiting in the US and the world, depending on your company needs.
  • Reduces the cost of commutation for the employee
  • More employees are looking for work/life balance and in congested cities commutation takes a big chunk out a day.
  • Companies reduce their real estate and other equipment expenses.
  • It’s a great benefit to offer a potential new hire.

To stay competitive, businesses are searching for high caliber talent outside of local areas.    When the talent works in a different location, such as their home, how do you effectively manage the employee?

The Economic Times has an excellent article “5 ways to manage employees working from home or remote locations.”

Where, employees working from home have the opportunity to achieve a better work-life balance. At the same time, some associates can easily feel distant and de-motivated when they are in an isolated environment. This can happen for a number of reasons, including the lack of direct/face-to-face interaction with the manager, co-workers and clients.

Technology has made it easier for  employees to work from their homes.   It’s a great way to expand your pool of talent as employees don’t have to be close to your office.  It’s a great perk for employees as they enjoy the quality of life as they cut out commuting time.   In large cities, such as New York, commuting time can easily be at least one hour.  A great perk for a strong performer.
