Do You Have a Deal Between You and Your Employees?
The Employee Value Proposition (EVP) is the deal between you and your employees. What does this mean? You can’t promise life long employment and nor do employees guarantee loyalty forever. So what are you promising and what are you expecting from your employees?
“Do you have an employee value proposition?” by Rebecca Richmond on HRZone.co.uk explains further what you can do to create such a deal.
In an interview for Melcrum’s latest research report The Future for Internal Communication, Shaffer explains more: “It’s a statement of intent, which can be both implicit and explicit. Most organizations don’t have a written, formalized deal and some say it shouldn’t be written down. But all organizations have a deal of some kind, in the same way they all have a culture. It may not be the deal we want, or the culture we want, but we do have a partnership agreement
Communication is the most important ingredient in a working relationship. When the employees have a clear message and common goals they are working towards, productivity is higher. Whenever you make a change, there are unanswered questions and it’s important to have in place a mechanism to communicate what is happening in the company. If you leave the employees to fill in the blanks…it will not work in your favor
So let’s make a deal with the employees.
Be well,
Pat
