Do Your Employees Know How To Think?

When you manage your employees, do you help them think?   Or do you jump in and tell them what to do? Helping employees think is a great gift you give them and the business.  That’s where coaching skills are important as you guide your team members to greater performance.    Review the following article:

Leadership experts suggest that all human behaviors can be compared to an iceberg: most of what drives us is hidden from view. For managing people we need to crack the iceberg to find the real agendas of our people.

This metaphor suggests that some of our behaviors are visible, while most other behaviors, thoughts and feelings lurk below water. This plays an important role in managing people and understanding what drives people to do well.  read more

It takes more time to coach an employee and yet you gain the most from the individual when you help them to reflect.   Take time yourself to observe each person on your team and how you can enhance their “thinking” muscles.
