What do you do when your employees are older than you?   How do you interact with them so they feel respected and you have them on your side?    They may be willing to work hard and yet they have a different perspective around their career and what they are seeking at this time in their lives.

Over the next few months I labored to learn the best way to manage people with  more experience and knowledge than I had. Luckily, learning how to do this was  not rocket science, it just involved incorporating a few simple rules  that not only created a better working environment but led to consistent  results.

Older employees may be in a different place regarding their career asperations, yet they want what all employees hope for in a stronger manager:  respect.
