The Most Important Action in Managing Employees
There is an abundance of information on managing employees and my focus is to bring it to you. If you had one piece of knowledge that would help you build a high performing team, what do you think it would be? You can learn how to handle individual issues, yet you need a foundation of truth for yourself that guides you in managing employees. What is your truth?
“One Thing Every Great Entrepreneur Does” by Jeff Haden on Inc.com. The following statement got my attention and it’s powerful:
Visions, strategies, decisions–those are all important. But not as important as this.
What do you think your role is in managing employees? Is it to meet business deliverables and guide your employees to perform at a certain level to be successful. What if you were to reframe your view that employees are there for you and the company to…you being there for your employees.
Being “there” for your employees doesn’t mean that you eliminate structure, direction, but rather you develop the strengths of each person on your team. Are your employees continuing to grow or have they become stale in their roles? Have you become stale in your management skills? Step back and evaluate each person and decide today how you will help them grow.
Be well,
Pat
